TV: Sinatra and Martin to Appear with Garland on CBS Special

Aug. 17, 1961 - Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin will appear with Judy Garland on her special television show March 11 over the Columbia Broadcasting System. The show is is tentatively entitled "Miss Show Business." Aug. 17, 1961 - Larry Parks and Susan Kohner will appear in John Huston's biographical drama film "Freud," in support of Montgomery Clift (left) and Susannah York (right). The film is based on the life of Austrian neurologist and founder of psychoanalysis Sigmund Freud, played by Mr. Clift. Aug. 15, 1961 - Opening in local theatres today is "Thief of Baghdad," an Italian-made costume fantasy with Steve Reeves (center). The color film, dubbed into English, was produced by Joseph E. Levine and directed by Arthur Lubin. In the time of the Arabian Nights, the city of Baghdad is ruled by Sultan Ali Bajazeth but actually controlled by the scheming Grand Vizier Ghamal. Lee Marvin Injured after Taking Stray Punch from Martin Milner on Set of "Route 66"

Aug. 15, 1961 - Lee Marvin, the actor, was badly cut in the face today while filming a fight scene for the "Route 66" television show. A plastic surgeon took 27 stitches to close the wound. The inadvertent haymaker was thrown by Martin Milner while cameras were recording a fight scene in a restaurant. "I'm not quite sure how it happened; it could be either one's fault," said Mr. Milner. "Lee said that the only reason he didn't punch me back is because we're such good friends.

Aug. 13, 1961 - Opening in local theatres this week is "Ring of Fire," an MGM color melodrama with David Janssen and Joyce Taylor, produced by Virginia and Andrew Stone. The film was shot in Vernonia, Oregon and Wynoochee River, Washington, featuring footage from two real forest fires. Aug. 12, 1961 - Fred Morrison, the father of Janet Leigh, the movie actress, was found dead in his business office in Beverly Hills today, apparently from an overdose of pills. The police said that Mr. Morrison, an insurance broker, had left a suicide note indicating trouble with his wife, Helen. Aug. 7, 1961 - It is now official that Richard Burton will quit the musical "Camelot" on Sept. 16 to act with Elizabeth Taylor in the film "Cleopatra." A spokesman for Mr. Burton confirmed a report that the management of "Camelot" received more than $50,000 to release Mr. Burton, whose contract would have expired Dec. 2.
