President Kennedy Enjoys Working Vacation in Palm Beach

Dec. 22, 1962 - President Kennedy relaxed in perfect summer weather in Palm Beach, Fla., today on the first day of his Christmas vacation. But even in such an atmosphere and after the strenuous negotiations that ended Friday in Nassau, where the President conferred with British Prime Minister Macmillan, the President had work to do. This afternoon, he combined business with pleasure when he cruised on the Honey Fitz with Sir David Ormsby Gore (right), British ambassador to the U.S., and Charles E. Bohlen, American ambassador to France. These two men are key figures in the effort to carry out the Pact of Nassau. The President was kept informed throughout the day on the final phases of the release of Cuban prisoners in exchange for food and medicine.
