President and Family Arrive in Palm Beach for Easter Holiday

Apr. 18, 1962 - President Kennedy and his family arrived in Palm Beach, Fla., this afternoon to begin a 10-day Easter holiday. The President and Mrs. Kennedy and their two children left Washington at 1:53 p.m., barely two hours after the President finished his news conference. Joseph P. Kennedy, the President’s father, who suffered a stroke last Dec. 19, was at the airport when his son landed at 3:45 p.m. The President’s father, whose right side was partly paralyzed, has recently been out for rides in his car. But this was the first time since his stroke that he had gone to the airport to meet his son. The President’s plans call for him to return to Washington April 27 to be the guest of honor at the annual dinner of the White House Correspondents Association.
