Mrs. Kennedy Experiences Slight Earthquake in Ravello

Aug. 21, 1962 - Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy was strolling in the gardens of the Villa Cimbrone in Ravello, Italy, when earth tremors were felt this evening. The President’s wife returned to the Villa Episcopio, where she is staying, after the first jolt. The earthquake in Ravello was slight, but it caused many persons in the town to crowd into the town’s main square in fear of a stronger shock. Mrs. Kennedy visited the Villa Cimbrone with her hosts, her sister and brother-in-law, Prince and Princess Stanislas Radziwill. Mrs. Kennedy and her 4-year-old daughter, Caroline, are vacationing there. They use the beach at Conca del Marini. In a brief ceremony at the beach earlier today, the Town Council of Conca del Marini named the beach the Jacqueline Kennedy Beach and renamed the piazza fronting it Piazza Jacqueline Kennedy. Mrs. Kennedy participated in the ceremony in her bathing suit.
