Mar. 17, 1962 - Director Francois Truffaut (right), pleased by the critical and popular success in Paris of “Jules and Jim,” is hard at work on another film, “L’Amour a Vingt Ans” (“Love at Twenty”), in which he is directing 17-year-old Jean-Pierre Léaud (left), hero of Truffaut’s “The 400 Blows” (1959), in one of five sequences. The other four sketches bear the names of young directors — two making their first films — Renzo Rossellini, Marcel Ophuls, Japan’s Chintaro Ishihara and Poland’s well-known Andrzej Wajda. Truffaut’s segment concerns Doinel’s frustrated love for the unresponsive girl he adores.
