Mar. 12, 1962 - Richard Harris, Irish stage and screen actor, who just completed a leading characterization in the MGM remake of “Mutiny on the Bounty,” starring Marlon Brando, has been signed to star with James Garner and Steve McQueen in “The Great Escape.” The adventure film will be produced and directed in June by John Sturges on location in Germany. It will be released by United Artists. Mr. Harris will portray a South African airman who plots an escape from a German POW camp in World War II.
