Jan. 31, 1962 - Michelangelo Antonioni’s “The Night” (“La Notte”), Italy’s official nominee for the Academy Award in the foreign category, will have its American première on Feb. 19 at New York’s Little Carnegie Theatre. The import, marking director Antonioni’s first film since “L’Avventura,” stars Jeanne Moreau, Marcello Mastroianni, and Monica Vitti. The film depicts a day in the life of an unfaithful married couple and their steadily deteriorating relationship.
