Kennedy References Removed from Movie “Take Her, She’s Mine”

Nov. 26, 1963 - All prints of the movie “Take Her, She’s Mine” were recalled by 20th Century-Fox Friday afternoon to omit references to President Kennedy, who was slain that day. The comedy contains two scenes in which a college student speaks in a voice resembling that of the late President. In another scene, a character supposedly speaks to Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy over the telephone. A Fox spokesman said today that the scenes were immediately ordered cut from the 350 prints now in distribution around the country. A new voice is being dubbed to replace the student’s. The changes are expected to be completed by the end of this week. The film, starring James Stewart and Sandra Dee, went into general distribution this month. It opened to mixed reviews on Nov. 13.
