Kennedy Children Go Christmas Shopping

Dec. 8, 1963 - John F. Kennedy Jr. and his older sister, 6-year-old Caroline, got a brief look today at what Santa Claus might bring them this Christmas. Three-year-old “John-John” and Caroline browsed through a toy store at Washington’s Dulles International Airport. The boy favored a helicopter, a miniature of the one which often whisked his father from the south White House lawn. Caroline was taken with a magnetic dancing toy. No purchases were made. The two children were accompanied by nurse Maude Shaw and Secret Service agents on their trip to the Chantilly, Va., terminal. They were saying goodbye to the late President’s sister, Mrs. Peter Lawford, and her daughter, Sydney, a playmate of Caroline.
