Nov. 27, 1962 - A joint birthday party for the Kennedy children was held today, and President Kennedy slipped away from official duties to drop in on the fun. Caroline Kennedy was 5 years old today. Last Sunday, John F. Kennedy Jr. became a 2-year-old. The children of the first family invited about 30 playmates, most of them Caroline’s kindergarten friends, to come to a party from 4 to 6 p.m. in the President’s Dining Room of the White House. Caroline, dressed in pink, first took her little guests down to the ground floor, where they gleefully rode their tricycles up and down the long, red-carpeted corridor. Tiring of that, the children were then escorted to the ground-floor movie theater, where they watched several cartoons.
