First Lady Sets Sail for Turkey

Oct. 4, 1963 - Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy (pictured yesterday in Greece) set sail from Greece tonight on an Aegean cruise to Turkey on Aristotle Onassis’s yacht Christina. With her were the host, a Greek shipping magnate, and a dozen guests, including Mrs. Kennedy’s sister and brother-in-law, Prince and Princess Stanislas Radziwill, and Mr. and Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt Jr. Mr. Roosevelt, U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce, had arrived in Athens to confer with Greek Government officials on trade. A half hour before departure, a brother-in-law of Mr. Onassis told newsmen the ship would sail to the Turkish coast and through the straits to Istanbul. A shipboard dinner party preceded the departure. Earlier in the day, Mrs. Kennedy went along for a speedboat ride as her sister water-skied.
