FDR Jr. Takes Oath as Undersecretary of Commerce

Mar. 26, 1963 - With President and Mrs. Kennedy looking on, Franklin D. Roosevelt Jr. took the oath of office today as Undersecretary of Commerce. The ceremony took place in the White House Cabinet Room before a crowd of friends, relatives, and members of Congress. Mr. Kennedy said he was delighted to welcome Mr. Roosevelt and his family back to the White House and commented that the Undersecretary came from a family distinguished for public service. Mr. Roosevelt replied that he welcomed the opportunity to serve under Mr. Kennedy’s leadership and under the leadership of Commerce Secretary Luther H. Hodges. Secretary Hodges administered the oath to Mr. Roosevelt. Mr. Roosevelt’s wife and two daughters and his brother, Congressman James Roosevelt (D-Cal.), were among those on hand for the ceremony.
