May 31, 1963 - The Kennedys have temporarily solved a housing problem — where to put the baby expected in late August. Large as the White House is, accommodations on the second-floor living quarters are limited and make little allowance for a growing family. Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy’s press secretary, Pamela Turnure, says that the new baby will sleep in a room with Maud Shaw (left with Caroline Kennedy), sharing the British nurse’s quarters for the first few months. The nurse’s bedroom is a cubicle that once was a book storage closet. As the baby grows, 2-year-old John Jr. will get a roommate.
