Nov. 16, 1963 - Classical High School’s armless place-kicker has received a fan letter from President Kennedy. Fifteen-year-old Chris Schumann, who was born without arms, is the regular place-kicker for the Classical football team in Providence, Rhode Island. “I have learned of the remarkable determination you have displayed over the years which has culminated in your acceptance as a valuable member of the Classical High School team,” President Kennedy wrote to the youngster. “I am confident such diligence will serve you in many ways as you progress through life, and you have my very best wishes for success in all you undertake.”
