Air Force Sergeant Killed in Vietnam

May 11, 1963 - The Defense Department identified today a medical technician who was fatally injured in South Vietnam when Communist gunfire hit a medical evacuation helicopter. He was Air Force T. Sgt. James Alvin Ellis (pictured), husband of Mrs. Lillian Ellis of Sunnymead, Calif. Sgt. Ellis died of bullet wounds last night. He was shot about 40 miles north of Saigon while flying in a Vietnamese air force H-34 helicopter.
