May 27, 1965 - Standing on the exact spot where President John F. Kennedy two years declared “I am a Berliner,” Queen Elizabeth today promised Berliners “the full support of the British Government and people in the great tasks that lie ahead.”
The Queen received a rousing welcome from the crowd packed in front of West Berlin’s City Hall on her arrival in what is now John F. Kennedy Platz.
The Queen praised the people of West Berlin, an island surrounded by Communist East Germany, for their fortitude and endurance.
