Feb. 12, 1964 - President Johnson and British Prime Minister Sir Alec Douglas-Home got off to a fast, friendly start in their get-acquainted talks today. Among other things, Home pledged Britain’s full support for the U.S. rather than the French position on fighting Communism in South Vietnam. The two men also saw eye to eye generally on the basic approach to Johnson’s promised peace offensive with Russia.
