Aug. 22, 1964 - Insisting that he too has a burning curiosity, Sen. Hubert Humphrey said today he has no idea of either the “who or when” as to President Johnson’s choice of running mate.
“President Johnson hasn’t made his wishes known to me,” the Minnesota Senator said as he arrived in Atlantic City, N.J.,, for the Democratic National Convention.
Humphrey maintained the choice won’t affect the election anyway.
“I think Lyndon Johnson will be able to carry the South — and the North, East, and West — with whomever he selects,” he said.
