Apr. 16, 1964 - President Johnson today warned supporters of civil rights legislation against being extreme in their demonstrations. He said that they do their cause “no good” with such actions. Mr. Johnson reiterated during his news conference his desire for passage of the pending civil rights bill “at the earliest possible date.”
