Nov. 15, 1961 - An hour-long “inspirational” show has been scheduled for the last day of the year by CBS-TV. The program, called “Let Freedom Ring,” will present the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing its hit version of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” and other selections. The telecast will also feature Richard Boone, Laraine Day, and Dan O’Herlihy. The network described the aim of the show as an “inspirational marshaling, through music and the spoken word, of the moral heritage that has made America great.” It will appear at a late-afternoon hour on Dec. 31.
