May 19, 1965 - Litigation involving “Captain Kangaroo” has been settled, and the children’s show will continue on CBS-TV. Two months ago, CBS had announced it would be replaced next fall by “Mister Mayor,” another children’s show. Bob Keeshan stars on both.
A suit was filed by Mitchell Hamilburg, Keeshan’s agent, against Keeshan and the network.
Keeshan said today: “I am pleased that I have been able to reach an agreement with the Mitchell J. Hamilburg Agency, the co-owner of the ‘Captain Kangaroo’ property, regarding my continuing as an actor on this program.”“Captain Kangaroo” is now televised from 8 to 9 a.m., Mondays through Fridays, and “Mister Mayor” at the same hour on Saturdays. Eventually, “Mister Mayor” will be dropped and “Kangaroo” extended to six mornings each week.
