Aug. 17, 1963 - Dr. Ben Casey, who will switch his practice to Wednesdays at 9 p.m., will conclude his Monday night practice on Sept. 9 by referring a patient to a psychiatrist. The patient is a musician (Scott Marlowe) who is disturbed by the conflict between his cruelly authoritarian father (Oscar Homolka) and himself. Paul Richards (pictured with Eduard Franz), who plays Dr. Mac Thompson, the psychiatrist, will appear on Casey’s final Monday night show. The next Monday at 10 p.m., Thompson gets Casey’s patient, the time period, and his own show, “Breaking Point,” on ABC-TV. On the new program, Richards’ character, Dr. Thompson, is the chief resident in psychiatry at York Hospital, a fictitious hospital in Los Angeles.
