Nov. 5, 1963 - A drama about a blacklisted actor who finds he is unemployable because of anti-Communist pressures will be televised on “The Defenders” on CBS in January. Filming of the episode, called “Blacklist,” was completed last week. Jack Klugman (right) stars as Joe Larch, an actor who obtains a film role after a 10-year forced layoff only to be dropped from the part after a citizens’ committee intervenes. Larch admits he was a member of Communist-front organizations, but he says he did not know until later that they were subversive. He denies ever having been a Communist. But the producer capitulates to the demands of an aroused citizenry and drops the actor from the picture.
