Aug. 26, 1962 - The coming season promises to be one in which TV, as never before, devotes attention to military life. ABC’s “Combat!” (pictured) deals with American infantrymen in Europe during World War II. Also on ABC will be “McHale’s Navy,” in which Ernest Borgnine stars as the commander of a PT squadron in combat in the Pacific. NBC’s “Ensign O’Toole” is a weekly comedy about life on a destroyer in the Pacific during World II, with a cast headed by Dean Jones. And again on ABC, “The Gallant Men” has Robert McQueeney portraying a war correspondent assigned to cover an American unit in Italy.
