Top of the Charts: “Come See About Me” by the Supremes

Dec. 19, 1964 - Hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 today was “Come See About Me” by the Supremes. The track, released on the Motown label, opens with a fade-in, marking one of the first times the technique has been used on a studio recording. The song, recorded July 13 of this year, is the third Supremes song to top the chart in the U.S., the first two being “Where Did Our Love Go” and “Baby Love.” The Supremes have also released a German version of the song, entitled “Johnny und Joe.”
