Top of the Charts: “A World Without Love” by Peter and Gordon

June 27, 1964 - Hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 today is “A World Without Love” by British singing duo Peter and Gordon. The song was written by Paul McCartney (left) of the Beatles and attributed to Lennon-McCartney. The B-side is “If I Were You,” written by Peter Asher (right) and Gordon Waller. The lead guitarist on the recording is studio musician Vic Flick, who also plays guitar on the James Bond film soundtracks.
