The Kennedys Ski in Colorado

Jan. 1, 1965 - Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy observed New Year’s Day by having lunch with her brother-in-law, Senator-elect Robert F. Kennedy, Democrat of New York, at the Sun Deck, a restaurant atop the 11,300-foot Ajax Mountain in Pitkin County, Colorado. Four of Mr. Kennedy’s children accompanied them in riding a chair lift to the mountain top, but Mrs. Kennedy’s children, Caroline and John, did not make the trip.

Earlier, the Senator-elect had helped his nephew make his way up a ski slope in Aspen. The boy made a 50-foot ski run to a soft landing in loose snow at the bottom.
