Jan. 15, 1962 - “The Point Shaver,” a drama about a college basketball scandal, will be televised by CBS-TV’s “The Defenders” on Feb. 3, at 8:30 p.m. It depicts the story of a player who is accused of accepting a bribe from a gambler to hold down the score so his team will win by a pre-arranged number of points. The show was filmed in New York last fall with Chet Forte, former All-America player at Columbia University, serving as technical adviser for the basketball sequences. Mr. Forte, now associated with CBS Television Sports, will appear in the basketball scenes.
