“That Regis Philbin Show” Discontinued

Jan. 21, 1965 - “That Regis Philbin Show,” which made its debut in October as a successor to “The Steve Allen Show,” will be discontinued by television station WPIX after Saturday’s edition. The 90-minute show is produced and syndicated by the Westinghouse Broadcasting Company. (Pictured below is Philbin with wife Kay.)

WPIX has presented it Saturday and Sunday afternoons and late in the evening Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. In the evening, the show competed directly with Johnny Carson’s “Tonight” and “The Les Crane Show.” All three have similar natures.
