“Texas Ruby” of Grand Ole Opry Dies in Fire

Mar. 29, 1963 - Mrs. Ruby Fox (right in 1944), known as “Texas Ruby” to Grand Ole Opry audiences, burned to death in a house trailer fire tonight, Nashville police said. She was 45 years old. Mrs. Fox, the wife of another Opry performer, Curly Fox (left), was the sixth Opry personality to die in accidents in recent weeks. A plane crash near Camden, Tenn., three weeks ago killed Patsy Cline, Cowboy Copas, Hawkshaw Hawkins, and Randy Hughes Miss Cline’s manager. A few days later, Jack Anglin of the Opry singing team Johnny and Jack was killed in an auto accident while hurrying to prayer services for Miss Cline.
