Texans Top Bills as Haynes Breaks Team Rushing Record

Sept. 30, 1962 - Abner Haynes (#28) broke his own team rushing record with 164 yards in 16 carries and Len Dawson passed for 3 touchdowns as the Dallas Texans beat the Buffalo Bills, 41-21, today in an AFL game. Haynes romped 71 yards on the Texans’ first play from scrimmage for 1 touchdown and 13 yards for another minutes later. Dawson threw scoring strikes of 30, 62, and 11 yards to Chris Burford, Frank Jackson, and Tommy Brooker. Haynes surpassed his former record of 158 yards. The victory was the Texans’ third in a row as they remained the only undefeated team in the league. The Bills lost their fourth game in four starts.
