Jan. 22, 1964 - Sonny Liston, after a day off for a trip to Denver, resumed training yesterday with a vigorous 15-round workout. Three of the rounds were with Leotis Martin, a Philadelphia light-heavyweight. Liston chose the lighter man for his 22nd workout in 25 days to sharpen his timing in preparation for the title fight with Cassius Clay in Miami. The heavyweight champion planned to leave for Miami sometime this weekend for the Feb. 25 bout. Among those impressed by Liston’s sparring was Ramon Velasquez, secretary of the World Boxing Council and foreign coordinator of the World Boxing Association. “Liston appeared to be in magnificent shape,” he said.
