Feb. 1, 1965 - Sir Winston Churchill’s last words to his family were, “I am bored with it all.”
This was reported today, on excellent authority, by the London Evening Standard. Sir Winston’s family announced his illness Friday, Jan. 15, and the first medical report was issued that afternoon. Neither then nor afterward was the exact time of the stroke given.
In fact, the Standard said, Sir Winston was stricken Monday, Jan. 11. The family waited until the medical situation was clearer before announcing his illness.
Sir Winston was unconscious virtually all the time until his death Jan. 24, the Standard said. He spoke only once, during a restless period Jan. 15, when he opened his eyes and said to his son-in-law, Christopher Soames, “I am bored with it all.”
