May 1, 1962 - Pete Burnside (right) pitched a 4-hitter tonight and snapped the Washington Senators’ 13-game losing streak by beating the Red Sox, 2-1, in Washington. The Senators scored the winning run in the eighth. Jim Piersall (left) opened with a double and Chuck Hinton ran for him. Hinton went to third on a passed ball, and Jim King scored him with a sacrifice fly to left. The Senators had not won a game since April 13, when Burnside beat Cleveland in the Indians’ home opener.
