May 22, 1964 - Senator Edward M. Kennedy called on Premier Georges Pompidou today to express his family’s thanks for France’s gift of $100,000 to the John F. Kennedy Memorial Library.
The late President’s youngest brother arrived in Paris this morning on the first stop of a nine-day European trip. He had originally intended to visit Ireland on his late brother’s birthday, May 29, but later decided to combine that with stops in the European countries that contributed to the library.
The Massachusetts Senator will leave tomorrow for Rome. Before departing from Ireland for Boston May 30, he will also visit West Germany, Belgium, and Switzerland.
Shortly after his arrival today, Senator Kennedy called on Jean Auburtin, president of the City Council, to thank him for naming a Paris street for his brother.
