Ringo Faces House-Hunting Problem

Dec. 6, 1964 - When Ringo Starr (pictured in the hospital with visiting George Harrison), who had his tonsils out last week, leaves the hospital on Thursday, he faces a house-hunting problem.

His neighbors, angry over the noise and screams of his fans, are demanding the Beatle drummer’s eviction from his £45-a-week luxury flat in William-mews, Westminster, London. And Ringo’s landlords have written asking him if he would find “alternative accommodation.”

One of the neighbors, Mr. Lathom Gedge, said today: “Ringo’s tonsil operation has given us our first peace for months. It has been awful.”

His wife added: “Those girl fans shriek all day long. They get hysterical and fight and kick each other. We’ve called the police dozens of times.”

Ringo himself, wearing pajamas in Room 512 at University College Hospital, said: “I wish I could do something about it — but I can’t control the fans.

“I’d like to stay in the flat, of course, but now I don’t know what’s going to happen. My contract expires in March.”

The latest bulletin on Ringo’s health: the operation hasn’t affected his voice, but he has caught a slight cold.
