July 16, 1961 - Johnny Roseboro's tenth-inning triple enabled the second-place Dodgers to gain ground on Cincinnati with a defeat of the Pirates, 12-11, today. The Pirates led, 11-9, but Roseboro helped the Dodgers gain a ninth-inning tie with his 15th homer of the season. Then, in the tenth, Tommy Davis opened with a single off Elroy Face, and Roseboro got his game-winning triple to deep left-center after Duke Snider had popped out attempting a sacrifice. Bill Mazeroski belted two home runs and drove in four runs for Pittsburgh, and Don Hoak, Dick Stuart and Roberto Clemente hit one homer apiece for the Pirates.
