President and Mrs. Kennedy Go Boating

July 1, 1961 - President Kennedy celebrated his first fiscal new year's day in office today by indulging in a favorite outdoor recreation - boating. A breezy day lured Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy to a two-and-a-half hour afternoon cruise on Nantucket Sound aboard the Kennedy family's cabin cruiser, the Marlin. They were accompanied by the President's father, Joseph P. Kennedy, and other members of the family. President Kennedy spent nearly all morning in pajamas and robe, trying to take the "rest cure" he promised himself. Dr. Janet G. Travell, his personal physician, paid a morning call on the Kennedy household. She has forbidden golf this weekend.
