Nov. 26, 1962 - Roman Gabriel (pictured), making his first start at quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, guided his team 78 yards in the closing minutes yesterday as the Rams gained a 24-24 NFL tie with the Minnesota Vikings. With 1 minute 55 seconds remaining in the game, Ram fullback Art Perkins scored the touchdown that tied the score. Gabriel, a two-time All-American and two-time ACC Player of the Year for North Carolina State, was the second overall pick in the 1962 NFL draft. He is the first NFL quarterback of Filipino-American descent.
