President Kennedy and Vice President Johnson Land at Carswell Air Force Base

Nov. 21, 1963 - President Kennedy and his party jetted down out of the darkness at Carswell Air Force Base at 11:07 p.m. tonight to begin his visit and make Fort Worth the White House of the United States until 10:30 a.m. tomorrow morning. The Chief Executive and his group soared in from Houston and were met by amber Christmas lights giving a glittering perimeter to the Fort Worth skyline. Aboard Air Force 1 with President Kennedy were the First Lady and Governor Connally and Mrs. Connally. Another jet set down at the sprawling Air Force Base — Air Force 2, with Vice President Johnson, his wife, and an array of other federal and state officials. The curious and the loyal began to show up in numbers at Carswell early in the evening to await the arrival of the President. An hour before his scheduled arrival, an estimated 2,500 persons were packed six deep along the fence off of the runway. The crowd was quiet, but cheerful and orderly. The President will be the top attraction at three events Friday morning after he and his party spend the night at Hotel Texas. At 8:50 a.m., he will address the general public from a platform at the parking lot on 8th St. just south of the hotel. At 9 a.m., he will go to the Grand Ballroom at the hotel to address a Chamber of Commerce breakfast limited to 2,000 invited guests. At 10:30 a.m., he will leave the hotel and return to Carswell, driving slowly in an open car and waving to those who assemble to see him along the motorcade route. He will then take off from Carswell at 11:15 a.m. on a short flight to Love Field in Dallas. His schedule in Dallas is as follows:

11:35 a.m. — Lands at Love Field and is driven to Trade Mart.

12:30 p.m. — Addresses guests at luncheon given by Dallas Citizens Council, Graduate Research Center of the Southwest, and the Dallas Assembly.

2 p.m. — Leaves Trade Mart and is driven to Love Field.

2:35 p.m. — Takes off from Love Field for Bergstrom Air Force Base, Austin.
