Feb. 19, 1963 - Phil Rizzuto (pictured with his wife Cora at the 1957 World Series), former New York Yankee shortstop, was operated on today after crushing two fingers on his left hand in a rotary snow plow at his home in New Jersey. Doctors said the operation was successful and had prevented Rizzuto’s fingers from being amputated.
