“Peyton Place” Expanding

Feb. 17, 1965 - “Peyton Place” is expanding. The serial now televised by ABC from 9:30 to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays will also be presented at the same hour on Fridays, beginning in June. Twentieth Century-Fox Television, producer of the series, will set up a second production unit to prepare the extra episodes.

Edgar Scherick, vice president of nighttime programs for ABC, said today that the network had postponed the debut of “The Girl from Peyton Place,” which was to be a spin-off from the current series. The network had been planning to present the new serial two evenings each week beginning in September.

Scherick said he did not know when the new series would start. But with “Peyton Place” expanding to three times a week, there was industry speculation that eventually “The Girl from Peyton Place” would be scheduled twice a week at the like hour, resulting in serial shows Monday through Friday.
