Pentagon Identifies Pilots Missing in Vietnam

Aug. 5, 1964 - The Pentagon identified today the two Navy pilots officially listed as missing after their planes were shot down in the attack on North Vietnam yesterday.

They are:

Lieut. Everett Alvarez Jr. (left), 26, whose wife is Mrs. Tangee Alvarez, San Jose, Calif. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Everett Alvarez, Santa Clara, Calif. He was the pilot of an A-4E plane flying from the carrier Constellation.

Lieut. Richard C. Sather (right), 26, whose parents are Mr. and Mrs. Christian Sather, Pomona, Calif. He was piloting an A-1H attack plane from the Constellation.

Lieut. Alvarez was assigned to an attack squadron based at the Naval Air Station at Lemoore, Calif. Lieut. Sather was assigned to an attack squadron based at Alameda, Calif.
