Mar. 8, 1963 - “I’m getting stronger, but not enough for strenuous work yet,” drawled Jim Taylor (left) in his Louisiana accent. The All-Pro NFL fullback of the Green Bay Packers walked out of a hospital Jan. 21, recovering from hepatitis — a virus liver affliction. The 27-year-old Taylor said the doctor “says I’m clear of the infection, and I don’t expect it will affect me in any way next season.” “But it’s nothing to play around with,” the former Louisiana State University ace added. During the next month or so, 1962’s leading rusher will head for Green Bay to talk over his contract with general manager-coach Vince Lombardi. “I hope to be back in full strength in time for the College All-Star game in Chicago next August,” Taylor commented.
