Mar. 15, 1965 - On sale today is “The Rolling Stones, Now!” — the third American studio album by the Rolling Stones. Although it contains two previously unissued songs and an alternative version, the London Records release mostly consists of songs released earlier in the U.K., as the group’s recent single in the U.S., “Heart of Stone.” Mick Jagger and Keith Richard wrote four of the songs on the album (“Heart of Stone,” “What a Shame,” “Off the Hook,” and “Surprise, Surprise”), with the balance composed by American rhythm and blues and rock ’n’ roll artists.
The songs were recorded between June 10 and November 8, 1964, at the Chess Records studio in Chicago and RCA Records studio in Hollywood, California, with the exception of “Mona (I Need You Baby),” which was recorded in London in January 1964.
