On Sale Today: “Here Comes the Night” by Them

Mar. 5, 1965 - On sale today is “Here Comes from the Night,” a single by the Northern Irish rock band Them, which is fronted by Van Morrison. The B-side is “All for Myself.” 

“Here Comes the Night,” written by Bert Berns, was recorded at Decca Studios in London last October. Jimmy Page played guitar on the arrangement.

Despite a bold, breezy tone, the song’s lyrics tell a tale of obsessive jealousy and approaching loneliness from the point of view of a rejected lover who voyeuristically watches the new couple.

Them, comprised of Morrison, Alan Henderson, Ronnie Milling, Billy Harrison, and Eric Wrixon, formed in Belfast in April of last year.
