On Sale Today: Elvis Presley’s “Girl Happy”

Mar. 2, 1965 - On sale today is “Girl Happy,” the 10th soundtrack album by Elvis Presley, released on RCA Victor Records in mono and stereo. It is the soundtrack to the film of the same name starring Presley.

Excluding the 1963 singles compilation “Elvis’ Golden Records Volume 3,” this is the sixth original Presley album in a row that is a soundtrack to a feature film. 

“Do the Clam” was released approximately a month ahead of the album as a single, peaking at number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remaining on the chart to date.

The recording sessions for the album took place at Radio Recorders in Hollywood last June.
