On Sale Today: “A Bit of Liverpool” by the Supremes

Oct. 16, 1964 - On sale today is “A Bit of Liverpool,” a new studio album by the Supremes. In Great Britain, the album is titled “With Love (From Us to You).” the album, released on the Motown label, was produced by Berry Gordy.

The album features the girl groups’ renditions of a number of Beatle songs (including “A Hard Day’s Night,” “You Can’t Do That,” “Can’t Buy Me Love,” and “I Want to Hold Your Hand”), as well as songs popularized by the Dave Clark Five (“Bits and Pieces” and the Animals (“The House of the Rising Sun”).

Although the Supremes performed the Beatles’ “Eight Days a Week” on several television shows, including “Shindig” and “Hullabaloo,” the song did not make the album.
