Apr. 10, 1964 - On sale today is “The Beatles’ Second Album,” which, despite its title, is the British group’s third album released in the United States following “Introducing…The Beatles,” released January 10, and “Meet the Beatles,” released January 20.
The new album was compiled mostly from leftover tracks from the U.K. album “With the Beatles” and the EP “Long Tall Sally,” which are predominantly rock ’n’ roll and R&B covers. These are rounded out with several Lennon-McCartney-penned non-album B-sides — “Thank You Girl,” “You Can’t Do That,” and “I’ll Get You” — and the hit single “She Loves You.”
