NBA Playoffs: Celtics Top Warriors, Move On To Face Lakers in Finals

Apr. 5, 1962 - A jump shot by Sam Jones (pictured #24) with two seconds left tonight enabled the Boston Celtics to score a 109-107 victory over the Philadelphia Warriors and take their sixth straight NBA Eastern Division title. Jones’ basket followed a 3-point play by Wilt Chamberlain that had tied the score. The Warriors then had time for only one play, but Sam Jones intercepted and held on as the buzzer ended the 4-of-7 series. The Celtics now go after their fourth straight championship Saturday afternoon when they open a 4-of-7 series with the Los Angeles Lakers.
